Spa Tatranska Kotlina

The village Tatranská Kotlina lies under the northern slopes of the hill Kobyli vrch in Belian Tatras. There is a nursing home , which creates very favorable conditions for regeneration through recovery stays to the classic summer or winter holidays. History

Already in the 19th century, stood on the same place the small village. The village began to expand after the discovery of a nearby cave Belianska. The village got the status of climatic spa. After a World War II, from the Tatranská Kotlina became a center for the treatment of tuberculosis and there were built the first sanatorium. After rebuilding sanatorium serves patients for to today.
 

Location and climate

It is the easternmost village at the part of the High Tatras. It lies on the road leading communications from Poprad to Lysa Polana border crossing to Poland, only 7 km from Tatranska Lomnica and 25 km from Poprad. The sanatorium is located in the same village at the part of the Belian Tatras at an altitude of 760 m.  Is the lowermost village in the Tatra Mountains, yet the local climate has alpine character.

Surroundings

The biggest attraction in the nearby Tatra valley is Belianska cave, about 20 minutes away. Belianska cave is the largest and only accessible alpine stalactite cave in the Tatra National Park. The cave was already known to gold miners in 1826. Although interest in the natural sights of the cave has lasted for 125 years, the patterns of creation is now completely elucidated. The trip is also recommended to the Belian Tatras, visit the local peaks and valleys of Monkova is the most beautiful valley near the village Žiar. Žiar is again characterized by its traditional architecture. The wooden houses are characterized by a variety of ornamental painting, especially around windows. Houses have a blue coat and red frame around the window. Today, the village has 183 national cultural monuments. There is even an open gallery of John Zoričák and operates here a small museumcalled.
