The city Brezno is administrative, economic, cultural and social center of the region Horehronie. It lies in the middle of Horehronské podolie, is surrounded by hills of the Nízke Tatry and Veporské Rudohorie. It is a starting point to tourist centers in the Nízke Tatry and the Slovenské Rudohorie.
