Krynica-Zdrój

Krynica-Zdrój is a Polish spa town located in Malopolska province, close to the Slovak border, it is also the "Pearl of Polish Baths". It is situated in the Beskydy Mountains in the height of 560-620 m. in the picturesque valleys of the Kryniczanka River. It achieved glory as the Krynica-Zdrój Spa thanks to the excellent healing waters that Zuber water deserves most - the unique water in Europe with unusually high mineralization. Krynica - Zdrój is not only a spa town, but also a sporadically developing sporting (especially winter sports), tourist, recreational, congress and cultural center. Lovers of "white madness" love perfectly prepared slopes in Krynica Javorina with the most modern and longest cabin lift (the longest in Poland is the cable car to Krynica Javorina) and the whole range of chairlifts. The slopes are mostly illuminated and artificially snowy, there is a climbing and sports hall. Those who like walking can find alleys and romantic arbours in Zdrojovy and Slotwinski Park, fountains in the park around the Promenade and Promenade itself, where we will be reminded of the past time in thanks to the music of the Zdrojovy Orchestra. Unrepeatable atmosphere, healing climate, beautiful scenery, ever-evolving and modernized tourist transport attracts many visitors and tourists.

History

The amount of mineral alkaline springs (together 23) was famous for Krynica (according to the official name of Krynica-Zdrój) already in the middle of the 19th century. At that time, the spa houses grew like mushrooms, but the complete start of the baths was associated with the name of the Austrian officer, Franz Stix von Saunbergen, who bought the land with the sources and developed them.

At the end of the 19th century, this town was visited by about 6,000 people a year for bathing. One year before the outbreak of World War II, it was 38,000 people a year. However, the city was ruined by the Second World War, and had rose slowly from the ashes until the end of the 1950s.

Krynica Javorina - annually recognized as the best ski resort in Poland. Snow is here for more than 150 days a year. The possibility of using 12 km of modified, illuminated slopes with a capacity of 14,000 persons / hour. The longest illuminated ski slope in Poland (2600 m).
