Bela

Belá is a village in Slovakia in the district Žilina. It lies in the northeastern part of the Žilina basin, in the Varbin valley and the Belianski Creek, which forms the Belian valley. To the west of the village is the Kysucká vrchovina, in the eastern part the hills of Krivánská Fatra are rising.

History

The first evidence of settlement originates from the younger Stone Age. Near the village (Lysica) there was a settlement of the people of Lužická culture. In the Iron Age, the people of Puchov culture lived in this area (the peak of Hrádok in the Zlín settlement). Slavic settlements confirmed the findings of ceramics in Beli from the 8th and 9th centuries.
In the village there is the St. Gregory church. Mary Magdalene from the last third of the 13th century, renamed in 1683. The main altar of the Baroque type dates from the second half of the 17th century.

Location and climate

The village is located on the road II / 583, which connects Žilina with Orava. The village belongs to the village of Zlieň, the local part of Nižná Kamence, the recreation area of ​​Bránice and the campsite Belá - Nižná Kamence.

Tourist attractions

Little Fatra is accessible to tourists in every season, and visitors to Žilina and the surrounding area can enjoy more comfortable walks in the Belgrade Rocks. They are situated at the entrance to Belianska Valley and are a popular rocky area. Belian Rocks are accessible from the village of Belá.
